Hello! My name is Angela Sugden, I am originally from Howe, ID. I graduated from Idaho State University for undergraduate school and went on to Montana State University (MSU) for graduate school and received my master's in education, specializing in School Counseling. I received a CACREP accreditation for completing 18 credits in ethics while finishing my program at MSU.
I am the gatekeeper of Jr. High completion requirements for the 7th and 8th grade and graduation requirements for high school students. I try to empower students to take an active role in the completion of requirements by enhancing their class choices with the career path they have chosen. Some of the tools we use for this is a four- year plan, the Advanced Opportunities Initiative, and Next Steps Idaho in order to accomplish a student's educational and career plans among other interventions like the 9th grade Interview of Understanding and the credit Evaluations for Sophs and Jr's as well as the Sr. Completion Interview.
I handle college entrance exam testing and aptitude testing at our school. (PSAT, ACT, SAT, ASVAB and college placement testing when needed) I am a site coordinator for Idaho Digital Learning Alliance classes and handle the Advanced Opportunities portal for our school. I am one of the senior class advisors where I help seniors with college applications and Apply Idaho, scholarships and Scholarship Idaho, Idaho Launch, Next Steps Idaho and the Career Pathway Plan. Choosing a college, or Career Technical Educational that fits a student can seem like a daunting task, but if a student wants to learn and do their part, I am here to help.
I see students on a regular basis helping them through their academic, personal/social and career development while in high school and jr. high school. It is truly an honor to be a school counselor at Challis Jr./Sr. High School. I so enjoy watching students excel, grow in maturity and make decisions for themselves and as they make plans for their post- secondary futures.
